Stable Audio, the product my team developed at Stability AI, was named one of TIME’s Best Inventions of 2023, alongside inventions like OpenAI’s GPT-4, Apple’s Vision Pro and the Las Vegas Sphere.
Over at Stability AI, my team launched Stable Audio, a new product for AI music generation.
It’s the first product to give people a way of generating music using today’s state-of-the-art AI models for commercial use. It uses latent diffusion to generate original audio based on a text prompt and a duration, delivered in 44.1 kHz stereo. It’s designed to be used by musicians who want to generate samples to use in their own music.
We were really pleased with its reception - it was covered in Music Business Worldwide, Music Ally, and a range of other places.
When GPT-3 was released in 2022, I thought it would be interesting to use it to create an AI-generated text for a choral piece. The result is I stand in the library, a 15-minute piece for choir and piano. VOCES8 performed its première as part of their Live from London streamed concert series, with Alisdair Hogarth on piano. You can watch the full concert here.
